The Food Group aims to promote and support local food producers, and encourage more people to grow their own food, on an allotments, in back-gardens, or even in window boxes.

We currently have two ongoing projects - the first is the Community Allotment and the second project, the Garden Share Scheme in partnership with the Town and Country Foundation, was launched in September 2009.

The Garden Share Scheme matches owners of gardens they can't or don't use, with people keen to start growing their own food who need a patch of land to cultivate. We already have two matches but we want to get as many people as possible signed up and matched - find out more here: Garden Share Scheme

If you know anyone who has spare space in their garden ,or who is keen to start growing, then please contact us.

As part of Tunbridge Wells in Bloom we have planted up the quadrant flower bed outside Tunbridge Wells Library with edible plants and flowers to promote local food growing:

We have lots of other food ideas, but need you to come and help us make them happen. For example:

  • Publicising the scandal of food waste
  • Seed saving and swapping
  • "Grow your own food" classes
  • Growing food in small spaces
  • Local food directory
  • Community-supported agriculture
